The best floor solution was applied here – Brazilian walnut.
DURABILITY
Brazilian walnut is rated as very resistant to attack by decay fungi and termites. When properly cared for, it is not uncommon for this decking material to last 40-50 years or longer.
HARDNESS
Brazilian walnut has a Janka hardness of 3,680 Ibs (more than triple the toughness of red oak). That’s why it has an unparalleled resistance to scratching and gouging. There simply isn’t a stronger wood decking material
DENSITY and FIRE RESISTANCE
Wood has a density of 1.04 g/em3 (actually sinks in water). Ipe has been tested and received a Class A fire rating. The natural fire resistance of Brazilian walnut wood, makes it a great choice for decks that are near fire pits, chimneys, outdoor fireplaces, charcoal grills and more. Cigar and cigarette burns are not a problem with Brazilian walnut decking.
