Building Decks

Rarely that a private house is without a deck. The easiest way to build it together with the house on the same foundation, but most of all the question of construction is postponed for financial and organizational reasons for an indefinite period. Therefore, the building of the deck to the house in 90 cases out of 100 has to be done as an extension to the already existing main building with a separate foundation.

Initially, the construction of the deck is calculated as a room, the most suitable for recreation and utility purposes, especially in the warm season. The veranda is associated with a light, unheated structure, on which you can store some of your household items, and even use it as a hallway.

All existing decks schemes can be divided into three large groups:

• The insulated or warm decks;
• The cold constructions, often with a half-open or fully open room;
• The universal systems in which window openings can be closed by sliding, swinging or removable glazed frames.

What design is the best for your home depends on the characteristics of the building itself and the intended use.

Many of our customers do not know what is the differance between the deck and the terrace, does it differ at all? We inform you: they are essentially different, although many of the goals of their construction are equal. The first is a closed, glazed annex, the second is a fully open area or equipped with a roof for protection from rainfall.

The objectives on the terrace and the deck are much the same. Both are used for family and business meetings, tea parties, lunches or dinners at a large table, relaxation, reading, playing music and other pleasurable souls that are dear to the hosts and guests of the event.

The purpose of the decks is significantly wider due to the greater security of the space than the terraces, which predetermined the demand for annexes. Indoor areas are equipped not only for dining rooms, but also for conservatories, billiards, classrooms, children’s play areas and so on.

Traditionally, the deck is attached at the entrance to the house or exit to the back yard, to the garden, park, lawn. This extension may have one, two or even three walls common with the main building. It all depends on the configuration of the house and the availability of other existing extensions.

The roof of the extension becomes an extension of the roof of the house or is an independent structure, but the roofing material is used similar to the main one. If the roofing material is outdated, has exhausted its resource, partial repairs are unprofitable, we recommend ordering the replacement of the entire roof, and not just the installation of the extension building.
